How to hold Videoconferences in Zoom
To hold a videoconference in Zoom, you can create an immediate meeting or schedule a meeting for a specific date. See how to do so below:
Creating an Immediate Meeting
- Open the Zoom application or access the Zoom website in your browser.
- Login on your Zoom account or create a free account if you do not have one.
- In the initial page, click in the button "Initiate a Meeting" or "New Meeting".
- If you are using Zoom application, the meeting will be started immediately. If you are using the browser, you will be asked to execute the Zoom application. After installation, the meeting will be started automatically.
- You will then be directed to the meeting room, where you will find the controls to share your screen, invite participants, activate or deactivate your camera and microphone, among others.
Scheduling a Zoom Meeting
- Login to your account in the Zoom website or the Zoom application
- In the upper right corner right, click in "Schedule a Meeting" or "Program"
- Fill in the details of the meeting such as title, date, time, length, and description.
- Configure the additional options for the meeting. Things like the meeting password, how to enable Video for the host and the participants, how to enable Audio of entering participants, and others.
- Click in "Save" or "Schedule" to confirm the creation of the meeting.
- You will receive a meeting invitation with a link to the Meeting Room that you can share with the participants.
- In the scheduled date and time, participants can enter the meeting clicking in the link of the invitation or inserting the ID of the meeting together with the password (if applicable) in the initial page of Zoom.
And what about Google Meet? Main resources
Google Meet is a videoconference platform developed by Google that offers a series of resources to facilitate on-line meetings. Below are some of the available resources in Google Meet:
Integration with Google Agenda
Google Meet is integrated to the Google Agenda, allowing the users to schedule meetings directly on their Agendas.
Meeting invitations automatically includes a link to the Google Meet Meeting Room.
Participation via link or access code
Participants can enter a Google Meet meeting using a specific link shared by the organizer of the meeting.
They can also enter inserting the meeting access code supplied by the organizer.
Host Controls
The host of the meeting has access to a series of controls such as the capacity to mute participants, turn of their cameras, remove undesired participants, and approve requests for entering the meeting.

How to participate in Google Meet meetings
To enter a Google Meet meeting you can use both a mobile device (cellular or tablet) or a computer desktop. Here are the steps to enter:
In the Cellular
- Google Meet Application: if you are using an Android or an iOS device, download and install the Google Meet application from your corresponding applications store.
- To enter a meeting: open the Google Meet application in your cellular. If you have a link for the meeting, touch in the supplied link to open the Meeting Room. If you have an access code, touch in "Insert code of meeting" and enter the code supplied by the organizer of the meeting.
- Entering the meeting: after inserting the link or the meeting code, touch in "Enter the meeting" to join the virtual room.
In the Desktop
- Web Browser: open the web browser in your desktop computer (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc.).
- Access Google Meet: go to Google Meet website (meet.google.com).
- Enter the meeting: if you have a link for the meeting, click in the link supplied to open the meeting room. If you have an access code, click on "Enter a meeting" and insert the code supplied by the organizer of the meeting.
- Enter the meeting: after inserting the link or the meeting code, click in "Enter the meeting" to join the virtual room.
